Etiological Spectrum of Diseases Among the Patients Presenting with per Rectal Bleeding Attending at Surgery Outpatient Department in a Tertiary Level Hospital

Background: Per rectal bleeding is a problem that frequently encountered by doctors. There marked geographical variation in the frequency of different etiologies. This study was conducted to determine various causes per patients attending tertiary level hospital Chittagong, Bangladesh.
 Materials and methods : It retrospective study, non-probability purposive sampling done. All over ten years age presenting at Surgery Outpatient Department with complain were included. A total 685 included this period 2 years.
 Results: Mean 36 ± 13 (Mean SD) range 10-82 years. Male-female ratio 1.5:1. Haemorrhoids most common cause (34.6%) bleeding, followed chronic anal fissure (26.1%), haemorrhoids (14.9%), colorectal polyps (11.4%) cancer (8.3%) Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) (0.9%). No found 3.8% patients. Maximum presented their fifth sixth decades life. 
 Conclusion: fissures ano are our setting. However, number cancers not negligible.
